Barbara A Mulligan of Allentown and a recent resident of Luther Crest passed away peacefully onSaturday with her loving husband and children by her side.Barbara was born and raised in Allentown, PA and was the daughter of Rose and William Gilly. Growingup in the city's fifth ward she was a proud member of the first Louis E. Dieruff graduating class. Shemarried her husband Thomas in 1968. The couple eventually moved to Allen Street where they raisedtheir two children. Hess's Bargain Basement was a favoritestomping ground to be replaced later by TJ Maxx and Ross. In fact, she could easily have taught amasterclass on couponing and rebating. She was also an avid basketball fan. She loved the 76ers andTyrese Maxie. In February and March, she camped out in front of the television following high schoolbasketball playoff games and then March Madness. She always enjoyed a brisk walk, a Broadway show, the Jumble or chatting (and laughing) for hours with her beloved sister Lorraine. Above all, her childrenand grandchildren came first. She always enjoyed attending her children's basketball games as well astrack and swimming meets. Later, she spent afternoons at her grandson's baseball games.Barbara was a practicing Catholic, prayed the rosary daily and was a member of the Cathedral of SaintCatharine of Siena. The family thanks the team at Luther Crest for their hard work, professionalism and support during thistime.Survivors: husband Thomas, daughter Shannon Williams (Richard) of Mountain Top, PA, grandsons Colinand Heath and son Thomas H Mulligan Jr (Christy) of Weehawken, NJ, and grandsons Jackson and Henryand sister Lorraine Gilly of Whitehall, PA.Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 13 at Cathedral St.Catharine of Siena Church, 18th & Turner Sts., Allentown.
