Colin "Sid" Edward Snyder passed peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024.Sid was born in 1937 in Allentown to Colin and Mary Snyder. He graduated from William AllenHigh School in 1955 and Lehigh University in 1959 with a degree in mechanical engineering.He served in the United States Army Artillery at Fort Sill in Oklahoma and in South Korea.During his time away, he wrote many letters to his love, Kathleen Reinsmith, and they married in1963.Sid started his career with PP&L (later PPL) where he worked at the Holtwood and MartinsCreek generating stations and at their headquarters in Allentown. His last position was managerof engineering and technical services.He and Kathy raised their five children in Emmaus. He put all five children through college andencouraged them in the arts from the time they were very young. He was a Phillies fan andcoached little league. Sid also served on the East Penn School Board (as Vice President andPresident) and on the boards of Pine Brook Services for Children and Youth and the BananaFactory.He loved to laugh and tell stories, particularly about the funny things his grandchildren did. Hewas also a lover of art and a painter, leaving a collection of artwork for his kids and grandkids toadorn their walls. He was constantly curious, always reading books about history, art and life.He is survived by Kathy and his five children, Mary Snyder, Bill Snyder (Kim), Colin Snyder(Kate), Kerry Foley (Kevin), and Kathleen Treat (Dave), and his 14 grandchildren.He will reside in the memories and hearts of the people who were lucky enough to know him.As per Sid's request, no funeral services will be held. In remembrance of Sid's life, the familyasks that any charitable donations be made to the Banana Factory in Bethlehem.
