Dolly 77 yrs., passed away Thursday, July 16 at St Luke's Hospital Allentown after surgery complications and breaking her leg. Dolly was married to William Magan until his death in 1982. Dolly always remembered God in her daily life. She was a member of the Cathedral St Catharine of Siena Catholic Church, EM, Lector and Cursillo. The many bishops, pastors, priests, deacons and seminarians at Cathedral received her tender loving care and wonderful food for over 32 yrs. Dolly was a Secretary in the Religious Education office for 15 yrs. and privately taught CCD students. She received the Siena Award in 1990 at Cathedral for her outstanding dedication to school and the parish and she served on the parish CYO activity board for 20 yrs. She was "Miss Dolly" to the Cheerleading squad she coached for 23 yrs winning, 8 district and 4 diocesan championships and she was in charge of the "Secret Santa Shop" at the former Cathedral School for many years. She was known as Mrs Coach, assisting her husband with athletics for CYO for over 23 yrs. The kitchen at Cathedral was more than a kitchen to those people who worked there. A listening ear was always there by Dolly to comfort those around her if they were having problems and she was a friend to everyone with her good hearted nature. She loved Elvis, purses, going to the casinos and poodle skirts. Many times she would be seen at dances on the dance floor having a good time. Survivors: one daughter: Shelley Magan and fiance Stephen Van Natten of Ocean City, NJ and two sons: Dennis husband of Susan of Allentown and Jeffrey husband of Robin of Slatington. two sisters: Marion Hottenstein of Catasauqua, PA, Judy wife of Thomas Hoof of Richmond , VA and one brother: Joseph Lavinger of Columbus, OH two grandchildren, Jacquelynne and Brent Magan.
