Dorothy Matera, 93, of Allentown, went into the arms of the Lord on May 19, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Chowansky) Smetana. Dorothy was the widow of John, who went to the Lord in 2015. They were married 65 yrs. Dorothy proudly worked in the Pentagon during World War II and later at Electric Chemical in Emmaus before retiring in 1957 to start her family. She was a member of Cathedral St Catharine of Siena Catholic Church in Allentown, where she enjoyed volunteer work and was a member of the Golden Agers Club. She loved to cook & read, but nothing gave her more pleasure than being with her family and playing pinochle and games with her beloved children & grandchildren. Survivors: Daughter: Daria Kennedy of Bethlehem Township, PA and Son: John husband of JoAnn Cockeysville , MD; Grandchildren: Matthew Matera and fiancee Kaylee, Samantha Matera. Predeceased by her husband, John, 2 Sisters and 3 Brothers and Son In Law, Edward Kennedy. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 23 at 10:30 am at the Cathedral St. Catharine of Siena Catholic Church, 18th & Turner Sts., Allentown.
