Edith M (Stangl) Longenbach, 90, of Allentown, passed away on October 11. She was the wife of the late Merion H Longenbach. They were married for 61 yrs before he passed away in Nov 2003. Edie would have been 91 in Jan. She was born in Northampton, one of nine children, her parents, the late John Stangl (a Jeweler) and Mary (Milisits) Stangl. In 1941, while attending Northampton High School she was chosen as 1 of 3 students to attend a National Jr. Red Cross Convention in Washington, DC for 6 days. She also was chosen to represent Northampton High School on the first Fashion Board for Hess Brothers Dept Store of Allentown. She was a Chiropractic Assistant for 15 yrs for her brother, the late Alfred P Stangl. She was a part time floral designer for Bob's Flower Shop for 35 yrs. She was a member of St Thomas More Church for many years. Prior to that she was active in the Women's Alliance at the Cathedral St Catharine of Siena for many yrs. She volunteered as a Democratic Committee Woman for the 15th Ward, 3rd District. She was one of the first members to join the YWCA in the 1961 where she enjoyed her daily swims with her friends. She enjoyed picnics/ swimming with family and friends at the family Summer place. Survivors: Daughters:Sandra E Zadzora, husband John of Walnutport and Christel Gift of Allen Township; 2 Grandsons Jon D Zadzora of Slatington and David M Loikits, Jr of Northampton: Two Great Grandsons: Dakota and Dawson Zadzora of Slatington and Step Great Grandson: Jeremy Batman of Slatington. Sister: Alma Tilli, husband Michael of Roseto, Sister-in-Law: Florence of Nazareth; 2 Brother-in-Laws: Foster of Scottsdale, AZ and Burton of Hingham, MA and 13 Nephews and 6 Nieces.
