Obituary

Gladys E Tait, 95, of Allentown, died March 30, 2016 in Cedarbrook Nursing Home in Allentown with her family at her side. She was the daughter of the late William F and Emeline S (Ogg) Tait Sr. Gladys was born in Edgewater, NJ she was the first of seven siblings. Her family settled in Allentown after Gladys graduated from Sayre High School in Sayre, PA. She enjoyed her position as a buyer in the Toy Dept at Hess's, she was in sales at former Zollinger's. She was employed at Lehigh Valley Hospital at 17th & Chew until she retired in 1982 and was a member of Lehigh Valley Health Network Retirees' Association. She was a volunteer for Girl Scouts, Mercy Learning Center and Meals on Wheels. Gladys devoted much of her time and assets to the family's children. Rarely did a birthday pass or holiday without a greeting card and a dollar from their "Aunt Giggie". She had a great appreciation of classical music, literature, and all things in nature and loved gardening, painting and bird-watching. She was a member of Cathedral St. Catharine of Siena Church in Allentown. Survivors: Sisters: Dorothy and husband George Folk of Macungie, Priscilla and husband Terry Eckert of Orefield, and brother: William and wife Janet Tait of Loganville, GA and 50 nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Predeceased by parents and sisters: Marjorie Minnich and husband William, Anne Kilmer and husband Robert , Lois Lynch Hunter. Interment: Private at a later date.
