JAMES G MALLOY James G. Malloy, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday September 1, 2014 at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, Ga. Jim was born in Allentown, PA on April 20, 1940 the only child of the late Mark P. Malloy and Elizabeth J. (Monshein) Malloy. James attended Allentown Catholic schools and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1958. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Business from Moravian College in 1962. His first job following college was with M.W. Wood Catering Company. He worked for Dunn and Bradstreet in Philadelphia, and then for Bethlehem Steel Company in the purchasing department. In 1973 Jim decided to follow his dream and opened a restaurant, the Starboard Inn in Surf City, NJ on Long Beach Island, NJ. He operated the restaurant for 20 years. He served on many committees, boards, and charities to better Long Beach Island, including holding the position of president of the Chamber of Commerce, sitting on the board for SOCH building fundraising. James was one of the founders of the LBI annual Chowder Festival, member of the Kiwanis Club, as well as the Squires 7 Club. Jim was preceded by his wife Kate Malloy in 2009. He is survived by sons Scot J. Malloy and wife Kaitilyn Riley of Napa, CA, Todd G. Malloy of Roswell, GA, daughter Kelly E. Lessard and husband Joseph of Cumming, GA., step-son Joseph Susco of CA and his three cherished grandchildren, Ryan Lessard, Colin Malloy and Madelyn Malloy as well as many close friends and family members.
