Leon D Kelby, Jr.

Leon D. Kelby, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024. Leon led a life filled with hard work, adventure, and love for his family. Leon was a talented builder who spent his career dedicated to his craft which was evident in the quality of his work and the satisfaction of those he worked with. Leon had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed spending his free time swimming, sunning himself, scuba diving, relaxing on the beach at Ocean Grove and he always enjoyed a good cigar after an evening meal. He was an avid gardener, who took pride in gardens. Leon's love for adventure took him on numerous travels to Florida, where he cherished sailing his boat and exploring new horizons. Music and cooking were also among Leon's favorite pastimes. He found joy in creating delicious meals for his loved ones, often attended the summer concerts at West Park. Leon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie Kelby. He is survived by his five children: Dave of Allentown, Craig and his wife Mary of Delaware, Ann Fatzinger and her husband Scott of Macungie, Todd and his wife Kathy of Delaware, and Maureen Sabol and her husband Matthew of Macungie; and his cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Jason, Jennifer, Ethan, Sean, Zachary, Megan and Maiah. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness. Leon's legacy of hard work, love for the outdoors, and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrate Leon's life on Monday, August 12 at 10:00 AM at Cathedral St. Catharine of Siena, 18th & Turner Sts., Allentown, PA.
