Mary (Spallone) Altieri of Allentown, PA died on February 3, 2017 at age 97. Born in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY on May 19, 1919 this strong, loving woman lived a full life. Her parents died when she was a teenager, so she quit school to get a job to take care of her now deceased younger siblings, Lena (Lulu) Teodorcyk and Daniel Spallone. Her working years in a canning factory and then as a seamstress were highlighted by adventurous European trips taken with girlfriends, especially loving her visits to Italy. At age 48 she married Alexander Altieri. She was a devoted wife and caring mother to his children, Joseph Altieri and Anita (Altieri) Stevens. For decades this woman cooked for family, shared stories, and inspired her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her faithful connection to Catholicism sustained her through her husband's illnesses and her own breast cancer bouts. Mary's kind soul and happy spirit will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
