Mary Patricia Phillip, 70, of Allentown, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2023 in St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by her family. Mary Pat was married to her husband, John D. Phillip, Jr., for 51 years. A 1970 graduate of Central Catholic High School, she received her Associates Degree at Lehigh Community College in early childhood education. She retired as administrative assistant of student services at Cedar Crest College after a long career in early education and childcare programs. Over the years, she was very involved in her children's activities such as coaching kickball and being a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. She also had a gift of caring for and teaching preschool age children. She took great joy in being an amazing Nana to her grandchildren. She never seemed happier than when she was with them, and they all loved her for her warm and gentle way, always making time to listen to them and laugh with them. She was fittingly surrounded by love from her family in her final moments as she was always putting herself last to ensure her family and friends felt loved and appreciated. She is survived by her husband John, children: Charles (Melissa) Phillip, Kathleen (Michael) Riehl, Maureen (Jason) Monaco, all of Allentown, and Ann Tracey, of Yardley, PA, as well as her siblings Kevin (Joyce) Curry, Eileen (Michael) Rutz, Colleen (Jay) Wilt, Michael (Sharon) Curry, all of Allentown, and Dennis Curry, of San Francisco, CA. In addition to her children and siblings, Mary Pat had 11 grandchildren: Aminah, Adam, Maryam, Abdullah, Muhammad, Zaynab, and Halimah Monaco of Allentown; Gavin, Brady, Jared, and Amaya Phillip of Allentown; 7 nieces and nephews: Stephen, Kelly, Erin, Kiel, Celina, Lily, Kaenan; and 2 great-nieces and nephews, Molly and Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis J. (Art) Curry and Elizabeth (Betty) [Flynn] Curry, and great-aunt Margaret (Peggy) Curry. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 11 at 10:30 AM at Cathedral St. Catharine of Siena Catholic Church, 18 th &Turner Sts., Allentown, PA. Viewing: Monday, April 10 from 6-8:00 PM and Tuesday from 9-10:15 AM at Robert C. Weir Funeral Home, 18 th & Turner Sts., Allentown, PA.Interment: in Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown.
