Mary Hilda Stone, beloved wife, sister and mother, avid fisherman and crusader for pro-life causes, passed away on Sept. 17th at the age of 92. Her daughter was by her side. Mary was the daughter of Henry "doc" Paff and Hilda Paff. Born in Beaver Falls, PA, the family moved in 1945 to Regent Square (a suburb of Pittsburgh) where she graduated from Swissvale High School at the age of 16, going on to get a nursing degree. It was in Regent Square that she met her true love, Richard Stone, her husband of 64 years and went on to have 11 children together. Mary loved music and passed this love onto her children. She sang in the Cathedral choir for many years, and enjoyed playing her violin, joining a senior orchestra in Allentown. Mary is survived by her sister, Gretchen Craig, and brother Francis Paff, 10 of her 11 children, 24 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Richard Stone, sisters Katherine Martin and Cynthia Paff, two brothers, Joseph and Richard Paff, her daughter Lydia Martin, and three grandchildren, Marissa and Amanda Martin and Stephanie Stone. Services: Sept. 22, Thursday, 10:00 AM, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Cathedral St Catharine of Siena, 18th & Turner Sts., Allentown.
