Obituary

Regina R. Morenci, 88 of Allentown, PA, went home to the Lord on March 3, 2017 after a long, arduous battle with Breast Cancer. She was the loving wife of Dominic M. Morenci. Regina and her husband just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last October. She was born on July 27, 1928 in McAdoo, Schuylkill County, PA. She was the daughter of the late James J. Smith and Mary (Phillips) Smith. Regina graduated from St. Patrick's Elementary School and McAdoo High School. She also graduated from Hazelton General Hospital as an RN. Regina was an RN in the Lehigh Valley for many years, retiring from Cedarbrook County Home in 1997 after 12 years of service. She was a longtime member of St. Catharine of Siena Church. She had many varied interests outside of nursing. She volunteered at St. Catharine of Siena School in various capacities when her children were young. Regina was a member of St. Catharine's Women's Alliance and dedicated many hours in volunteering at Cedarbrook Nursing Home with the Ladies of Charity. Regina was also a member of the Living Word Choir and a Eucharistic Minister for over 20 years. She took special pride and enjoyment in her children and grandchildren's activities her whole life, and as a homemaker after her retirement she enjoyed reading and gardening-spending many hours planting and replanting annuals and perennials in the garden. A loving mother and wife, she will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her husband Dominic, four children: Patricia R. (wife of John P. Hoch), Debra A. (wife of Bryan M. Gault), Donnamarie C. (wife of Michael A. Yeager) and Robert R. (husband of Carol S. Androsky), all of Allentown. Four grandchildren: Crystal Gault, Caitlin Gault Nunes (wife of Jeffrey Nunes), Desiree' Yeager and Carissa Morenci. She is survived by a sister, Dolores Smith Sashko, of Clarks Summit, PA. She is predeceased by sisters Marie Smith Tomilla of Seattle, WA, Kathleen Smith Burkett of Middletown, PA and brother James Smith, Jr. of Oakbrook, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions for Holy Masses would be appreciated.
