William (Bill) Thomas Jones, 93 passed away July 1 st at Fellowship Community in Whitehall, Pennsylvania. Bill was the son of the late Robert and Grace (Westerman) Jones. He was married to Marcia (Shanton) Jones for 58 years. Bill served in the Marines in 1946 and 1950 and was very proud of his time with the Corps. He married Marcia in 1957 and had 2 children before attending night school at Lafayette College and earning a bachelor's degree in electrical in 1967. Eventually, he worked for Moore Products in Springhouse, Pennsylvania and retired as the Vice President of Manufacturing. Marcia and Bill moved to Fellowship Community 9 years ago and the friends he made there were a tremendous support for him after Marcia died. In his mid-50s Bill started to paint actively and based numerous paintings on travels abroad. He was a prolific painter and entered many local shows well into his late 80s. His greatest accomplishment was being selected twice for the Bethlehem Christmas City stamp (2013 and 2016). He donated many paintings to charities and loved giving them to family and friends. Bill had a very active mind and was engaged in many activities. He was a member of Silver Creek Country Club for over 20 years making a lot of friends there. He served as keeper of the bells in the 1976 Liberty Bell Trek reenactment. He was a hunter. He built model airplanes and rockets and was an accomplished wood worker. He was enthralled with history, travel, other cultures and food. There was always a vegetable garden - even until his early 90s. Marcia and he belonged to a bridge club. However, Bill's biggest love was his family. Marcia and he were true partners and they enjoyed being together. He was always there for his children with encouragement. He treated their spouses as if they were his children. Bill was extremely proud of his grand children and all that they had accomplished. Bill's love didn't stop there, he was close to his siblings, nieces and nephews and their children. When anyone in the family needed help - whether they asked for it or not, he was right there. Bill is survived: Daughter: Gwen (Jones) Wetzel and husband Jeffery of Midway, Utah; son: Christopher Jones and wife Eileen of Melrose, Massachusetts; sister: Suellen Hall and husband Donald of Allentown, Pennsylvania and grandchildren: Josh and wife Jenna Wetzel of Gilberts, Pennsylvania, William Jones of Chelsea, Massachusetts and Clare Jones of Revere Beach, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his wife, Marcia (Shanton) Jones; sister: Lucile (Jones) Hagey and brother: Robert T. Jones, Jr. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Fellowship Community 3000 Fellowship Dr, Whitehall, PA 18052 https://www.fellowshipcommunity.com/.
